Caltrate D 600 mg 60 Tabs Calcium and Vitamin D

Caltrate Tablets contain 600 mg of Calcium Carbonate and 800 IU of Vitamin D.

Calcium replacement/Supplement is used to prevent or treat negative calcium balance; in osteoporosis, it helps to prevent or decrease the rate of bone loss.

Vitamin D is enhancing the absorption of calcium.

Indications:

• • Caltrate Tablets strengthen bones and teeth.
• • Caltrate enhances the prevention of bone diseases and osteoporosis.
• • Calcium citrate supports proper growth and development.

How to use:

• Take one tablet of Caltrate tablet daily with or after the meal.

Side effects of Caltrate tablet:

• • Hypercalcemia.
• • Flatulence.
• • Abdominal Distension.
• • Constipation.

Cautions:

• • Mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria. Periodic check of plasma calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion should be made.
• • History of renal stones.
• • In long-term treatment, it is advisable to monitor serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function.
• • Stop treatment if urinary calcium exceeds 7.5 mmol / 24 hours calcium carbonate.
• • Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia or hypercalciuria.

Interactions of Caltrate tablet:

• • Bisphosphonates: calcium reduces absorption of bisphosphonates. Separate by 2 hours.
• • Thyroid Products: Calcium Salts may diminish the therapeutic effect of Thyroid Products. Separate by 4 hours
• • Thiazide and Thiazide-Like diuretics: may decrease the excretion of calcium salts. continued concomitant use can also result in metabolic alkalosis.
