Domotherm S Ear Thermometer

Infrared ear thermometer from Domotherm — fast, accurate temperature reading in 1 second.

Domotherm S is an infrared (IR) ear thermometer — measures temperature inside the ear canal in ~1 second. Memory function recalls previous readings; fever indicator (red light or alert) when above 37.5°C. Battery powered (typically AAA × 2). Disposable probe covers required (sold separately).

Benefits:
- Quick fever screening for adults and children (over 6 months)
- Multiple-person temperature checks during illness (use new probe cover for each person)
- Hospital-grade home use
- Replacement for older mercury or armpit thermometers (faster, safer)

How to Use:
Attach a fresh probe cover. Switch on the thermometer. Pull the EAR slightly UP and BACK (for adults) or DOWN and BACK (for children under 1) — this straightens the ear canal. Insert the probe gently. Press the measurement button. Reading appears in 1-2 seconds. Eject the cover and turn off the thermometer.

Precautions:
- Always use a fresh probe cover for hygiene and accuracy
- Don't use on babies under 6 months — ear canal too small; use rectal or armpit thermometer instead
- Earwax can affect readings — clean ears (gently!) if a measurement seems off
- Take 3 readings and average for most accurate result
- Replace batteries when low-battery indicator shows
- Calibrate by comparing with a clinic thermometer once a year

Q&A:
Q: Ear vs forehead vs oral thermometer — which is most accurate?
A: ORAL/RECTAL is gold standard. Ear thermometers (this) are very close — within 0.2-0.3°C of oral when used correctly. Forehead (temporal artery) thermometers are convenient but typically read 0.3-0.5°C lower than oral. For serious fever monitoring (sick child, post-surgery), oral is best.

Q: Why pull the ear up and back?
A: This straightens the S-curve of the ear canal so the IR beam hits the eardrum (where the temperature is most accurate). Without this technique, readings can be 0.5-1°C off.

Q: How fast does it read?
A: 1-2 seconds. The instant reading is a major advantage over older mercury thermometers (3-5 minutes) and armpit electronic thermometers (1-2 minutes). This makes it especially useful for restless children.
