Gaviscon extra 24 Chewable Tablets

Gaviscon Chewable Tablets provide fast, soothing and long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion, which for example can occur after meals or during pregnancy. The product belongs to a group of medicines called 'reflux suppressants', which form a protective layer on top of the stomach contents to prevent acid escaping from the stomach.

Gaviscon protects the esophagus from acids, pepsin and bile.

Indications:

• • Gaviscon Chewable Tablets used for mild symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

How to use:

• 2-4 tablets of Gaviscon after meals and at bedtime.

Points of Interests:

• • If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should be reviewed.
• • Antacids will decrease the absorption of many medicines. The administration of antacids should be separated by 2 hours from other orally administered medicines, whenever possible.
• • Don't give Gaviscon extra Chewable Tablets for children less than 12 years old.

Side effects of Gaviscon extra Chewable Tablets:

• • Generally well tolerated.

Cautions:

• • Each tablet has 55.89 mg sodium content. This should be taken into account when a highly restricted salt diet is recommended.
• • Each tablet contains 75 mg of calcium carbonate. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with
• hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi.

Interactions of Gaviscon extra Chewable Tablets:

• • Erlotinib: antacids possibly reduce plasma concentration of erlotinib.
• • Ciprofloxacin: antacids reduce absorption of ciprofloxacin.
