It consists of: A tube containing mercury next to a graduated scale. An inflatable elastic cuff that wraps around the arm. A tool to inflate the air inside the cuff, and a valve to deflate it. Intra-cuff pressure sensor.

How to Use

  1. Ensure, before starting the use of the Mercurial Sphygmomanometer, that the mercury settles at exactly zero
  2. Beware of mercury changing color to black
  3. To obtain accurate results when using a Mercurial Sphygmomanometer: 1- Sitting comfortably for at least five minutes before starting the measurement process. 2- Avoid smoking or drinking caffeinated beverages for at least 30 minutes before measuring your blood pressure. 3- Avoid exercising for at least thirty minutes before measuring your blood pressure
